Mission Statement

Working Musicians Alliance exists to advocate for fair treatment, professional respect, responsible industry standards, and sustainable compensation for working musicians and related music industry professionals.

Across every genre and level of experience, musicians invest time, skill, equipment, travel, promotion, preparation, and years of dedication into an industry that often operates without clear standards, reliable protections, consistent expectations, or long-term sustainability for the people helping keep it alive.

WMA was created from the belief that musicians deserve to be treated as professionals, not disposable labor.

The alliance supports stronger standards involving:

  • fair compensation
  • transparent agreements
  • professional communication
  • responsible venue practices
  • documented expectations
  • accountability
  • healthier working relationships throughout the music industry

WMA promotes a fact-based, documentation-oriented approach to advocacy, communication, and professional dispute awareness. The organization encourages responsible discussion grounded in written agreements, firsthand experience, factual representation, and verifiable information.

The goal is simple:

Help create a stronger, more informed, more professional, and more sustainable environment for working musicians and the people who support the music industry every day.
